On October 26, the Valorant showmatch between Sentinels and G2 took place. It was clear from the first map that this match wasn't going to go the way many viewers had expected!
G2 and Sentinels hadn't faced each other for a whole two years, but on Thursday it was finally time again! And both teams went into the game with new rosters, which made it all the more exciting (G2 announced on the 25th of October that Leaf would be their fifth teammate and Johnqt has only just become the IGL of Sentinels).
But since Sentinels lost their most recent showmatch against a tier 2 team, Moist, fans weren't expecting much. Whereas, four of G2's players come from The Guard, who won the Ascension Americas championship. And when G2 signed these four players, they became the 11th team for VCT Americas 2024. So we were expecting big things from G2.
Sentinels Vs. G2 - Off-Season $5k Bounty Showmatch
In the first map, Sunset it first looked like SEN would be heading home with a loss as G2 led 10-2. However, suddenly Sentinels woke up and made a big comeback, winning the map. Also, thanks to Johnqt playing as Cypher, many clutch situations were won.
The second map, Bind wasn't that close anymore as SEN dominated with a 13-7 score. While Tenz's Yoru didn't perform as well this time, his teammates delivered an even better performance.
Since it's all about the bounty on every single map, there was also a third map, Ascent. Here, G2 won with a 13-7. So they at least got some of the bounty. G2's new addition, Leaf, performed well as a Duelist, but the team clealry need a little more experience together.
