On October 23, 2023, Sentinels faced off against Moist x Shopify Rebellion in the $5k Bounty Showmatch. However, Sentinels couldn't prevail against the Tier-2 team.
Fans of the well-known Valorant team Sentinels have had a tough time recently. From initial success in the Valorant pro scene, they've fallen incredibly far.
However, hope was rekindled when the new Sentinels lineup for the 2024 season was announced, and Mohamed "johnqt" Amine Ouarid assumed the role of IGL. The new lineup had a chance to prove themselves in yesterday's showmatch against Moist x Shopify, which you could watch on Tarik's Twitch channel, but unfortunately it went very poorly. Were we foolish to believe Sentinels were back?
Sentinels Vs. Moist x Shopify Off-Season $5k Bounty Showmatch - How Did It Go?
In the first map, Bind, Sentinels absolutely demolished MxS with a score of 13 to 2. Zekken somewhat carried this with an average combat score of 404. Tenz also pulled off some sneaky outplays with Yoru.
However, in the next 2 maps the tables turned. SEN lost on Ascent as well as Haven and it wasn't even close. Moist x Shopify showed their teamwork coordination and brawk shined as a fragging initiator.
Even though it was just a show match, there was still $5,000 on the line and so we had expected more from SEN.
SEN fans view the loss with the new lineup against a Tier 2 team as a concerning sign for the upcoming VCT tournaments. But it's clear that they probably held back some strats and there's still time to practice. The first VCT event in 2024 is expected to start in January and that's when we'll see how Sentinels perform with their current roster.
