We all know all these rumors about Valorant coming to consoles and mobile... but they were just rumors. However, the Riot Games' job listing revealed plans for Valorant's future, which we are very excited about.
Since Valorant came out, we've already had a slew of leaks about the work involved in getting the game out on console, such as this statement from Anna Donlon who is an Executive Producer of Valorant:
We are definitely prototyping that (Console version of Valorant) right now. But there’s a way to play this game and there’s a way to experience this game that we’re not entirely sure translates completely to console play. If we feel like we can deliver this experience on those platforms, we absolutely will.
And hey, it looks Riot now feels that they can deliver this experience on console! And they don't particularly hide it.
Riot Job Listing Leak
Recently, Riot Games did an update of their job listings and among them, you might have found this:
If you want to read the entire job posting, click here, although there are no additional details on how the game itself will look on consoles. We also don't know what consoles it will come out on or if it will come out on all of them at once – so far the details are a mystery. Still, it's good to know it's coming.
Valorant Console Release Date
But when would we expect Valorant to come out on console? Honestly, not so soon, and we wouldn't count on this year. Maybe next year, although that's still optimistic, especially since they're only now looking for a Senior Game designer for this project.
To our eye, this looks like preliminary plans for the project, and we shouldn't be too excited about it coming anytime soon. However, when it does come out, we are 100% convinced that it will significantly increase the player base and the overall popularity of the game. More supported platforms simply mean more reach, and with the reputation Valorant has, any console player will reach for it, especially if it will be free-to-play or at least kind of cheap.
