The matchup between Team Liquid and Shopify Rebellion in this year's Game Changers Championship has been eagerly anticipated. Here's how it went!
Players from both teams, Shopify Rebellion and Team Liquid BR had insane moments and plays. It was a blast to watch! But in the end, Shopify Rebellion's hard work finally paid off and they snagged the win, bringing it home to NA, despite COVID case.
Shopify Rebellion vs Team Liquid: It Went To The 5th Map!
The Path To The Grand Final
After an intense double elimination tournament, on December 3, we finally arrived at the BO5 final. Shopify Rebellion entered the tournament as one of the favorites and justified their status by their great performances.
This time, they didn't let themselves be defeated by G2; quite the opposite, they actually won all their previous matches and went straight to the final. Team Liquid had to go in the losers bracket, but in the end, they even won 0-2 against G2 Gozen and fought their way back to the final.
How Did The Match Go?
One must mention that, although some players in Shopify Rebellion seemed visibly affected, they still managed to deliver such a strong performance!
Their in-game leader, meL, fell ill with COVID and a few teammates weren't feeling well either. That's why meL is not featured in the winner's photo, as she had to sit isolated with her mask on. One can imagine how challenging it must have been to play this final for her. It's no wonder she broke into tears after the victory. Well, one does quite a bit for the World Champion title, right?

The final itself was incredible. Initially, the maps were super close, then it went back and forth until it decisively settled in the fifth map. That's exactly how we want a final to be.
Especially florecent from SR shone in many rounds, but sarahcat also often saved the day. On TL's side, bstrdd cleaned up nicely and her teammates also pulled off some crazy clutches.
What really got the audience screaming, though, was Bizerra's Chamber on Sunset! An agent who has been nerfed so much that he's not seen much in pro play anymore, but on this map, he seems to be overpowered with a player being good on him.
